Apple launched icloud.com to developers last night, giving them access to web versions of Mail, Contacts, Calendars, find my iPhone, and iWork apps.
The web apps look almost identical to those in iOS. (They even have the same icons.) It’s almost like MobileMe meets iOS.
Only registered iOS developers have access to the web version of iCloud right now so they can test apps with the new system. everything syncs with your Apple ID, so your contacts, calendars, e-mail, etc. can be accessed from both the web and your iOS device.
Apple also released pricing for extra storage options. You get 5 GB for free. after that you can get 10 GB ($20 per year), 20 GB ($40 per year), or 50 GB ($100 per year).
There was a bit of confusion in June after Apple introduced iCloud whether or not there would be a web version of the service. Now we have a definite answer.
It also looks like that leaked image from a few months ago of iCloud’s login screen was legit.
We’ll have a full tour of the web-based iCloud later today.
